Make Your Puppy Affectionate

Your puppy will look to you for commands.

When you bring a new puppy home, it's very easy to want to spend countless hours with it. A key component of making your puppy affectionate is bonding properly with your puppy. Part of this process involves you establishing yourself as the leader, making your puppy look to you for guidance and obedience. There are some easy and fun ways to make your puppy affectionate long into adulthood.

Instructions

1. Groom your puppy. Grooming is a way of showing gentle affection as a pack leader, and your puppy will find comfort in it. This also teaches your puppy early that grooming is a pleasant activity.

2. Train your puppy. By giving your puppy simple commands such as "sit" or "lie down," you are establishing a hierarchy with your puppy. Give your puppy a treat when it does something positive.

3. Showing enthusiasm while playing will make your puppy enjoy it more.

Become excited over things your puppy should enjoy, such as dog toys, treats or going for a walk. Dogs feed off your excitement, and it will make them happy to be sharing that activity with you, thus bonding them to you even more.

4. Walk your puppy. Not only does this teach the puppy to walk calmly on a leash at an early age, it will also calm its active mind. When your puppy grows into adulthood, it will look forward to walks because it means spending time with you.
