Find A Puppy In Maryland

Getting a new puppy can be both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Dogs are a serious commitment, and choosing the right puppy can be a daunting task. In the state of Maryland, there are many great organizations that are able to help with pet adoptions, including the SPCA. The Humane Society recently won the participation of local pet stores in the state to reduce puppy mills, making Maryland a great place to find a pound puppy.

1. Decide what kind of puppy is a good match for your family. There are many things to consider when choosing a dog. These include: breed, appropriate size for your Maryland home and health conditions. Information on purebred puppies can be found online or at pet stores.

2. Contact the Maryland SPCA, state animal shelters and humane society. Ask them if they have puppies available. Check the websites for these organizations for information regarding their adoption centers. If they don't have puppies available when you contact them, ask them to call you when a puppy comes in that matches your adoption criteria.

3. Search the classified ad websites for Maryland. Some sites allow you to narrow your search by metro area. Research online pet adoption sites. Look for sites that allow you to customize your search by: breed, age, size and sex.

4. Find Maryland dog breeders in a national breeder's directory. Breeders are a good resource for finding a purebred puppy. They can provide information about the breed, and refer you to other breeders, veterinarians and groomers.
