Restore Games On A Nintendo Ds Game

For Nintendo DS gamers, there are few experiences more upsetting than losing a saved game. This may occur due to user error, file corruption, or in rare cases, some kind of hardware damage. Unfortunately, there is no way to restore a DS game once it has been deleted. Not even the manufacturers can make that happen. However, there are a number of ways in which you can backup your saved games in order to restore them later on.

Instructions

1. Make backups of your saved game files on an SD or microSD memory card. This way, if a file is corrupted or accidentally deleted, you can simply pop in your SD card and load the game from there. These storage devices can hold up to 32GB, so there is plenty of space for all your games.

2. Copy the backups of your saved games to your computer. This can be done by inserting the SD card into a USB card reader, plugging the reader into your machine, and copying the files to your hard drive. These files will not be usable by your computer, as they are only compatible with the DS. However, this ensures that your games are safe even in the event of losing your device. Alternatively, you can purchase special hardware designed specifically for DS-to-PC save-game transfers. While this option is more expensive, it can allow for easier management of your files.

3. Use homebrew tools and programs to enable additional backup solutions. For example, the SavSender utility allows you to backup your files to your PC over a WiFi connection (see References). Installing homebrew programs can be quite complicated at first for casual DS users; however, many users enjoy the ability to customize their DS with third-party software. Be aware that while using homebrew programs is legal, installing them will void your warranty. Using pirated programs in conjunction with homebrew can get you in serious legal trouble. With that in mind, using homebrew save-game-management software for legitimate purposes can greatly ease the process of backing up games.
