Peedy, which runs in conjunction with Microsoft Agent, makes it possible to have text on the screen read back to you by a robotic computer voice. Peedy's interface is a virtual talking parrot that enhances your computing experience. You can extend this functionality to Yahoo Messenger as well, and have the parrot voice read your status messages and alerts.
Instructions
1. Go to download.Microsoft.com in your browser, type "Peedy" in the top search box and press the "Enter" key. Click the "Agent 2.0 Character: Peedy Character File" link. On the next page, click the "Download" button and then run the setup program by double-clicking it.
2. Launch Yahoo Messenger and sign in to your account. Keep the program running in the background.
3. Go to messenger.yahoo.com in your browser and click the "Plug-Ins" tab on the top bar of the page. Type "Peedy" into the search box below the right-hand side "Find a Plug-In" section and click the "Search" button.
4. Click the plug-in listing for "Spoken Status/Status Alert." On the next page, click the "Install Now" button. Your browser asks for permission to launch a third-party application. Agree to launching the program, which is Yahoo Messenger that you already have running in the system's memory.
5. Click the "Install" button to give the Yahoo Messenger permission to install the ActiveX controls for the plug-in. On a fast computer, it should only take a few moments for the plug-in to install. You receive a confirmation when it is successfully installed, meaning that you have Peedy working with Yahoo Messenger now.
