People use online classified ad sites to post ads for a wide variety of things including real estate, automobiles, jobs and pets. Buyers and sellers from countries across the globe visit these types of sites daily. Most sites require that you follow specific steps to post your own free online advertisements.
Instructions
1. Register with the online classified ad site you would like to use to post ads. Select a username, enter your e-mail address and create a password. Most websites also give you the option to enter your phone number, address and web address as well. Registration is generally free.
2. Wait a couple of minutes and then check your e-mail for a registration notification from the online classified ad site. Look in your spam folder if the message does not automatically appear in your inbox. Open the message and click on the link provided to activate your new account. Follow any other instructions given.
3. Read and review any information or posting rules listed on the online classified ad site. Find out if there are restrictions on the types of permissible ads as well as the site's policy regarding duplicate ads. Most sites do not permit you to post the same ad in more than one category at a time.
4. Choose the best category for your ad: vehicles, real estate, pets, jobs, services or merchandise. Then select the type of ad you would like. Ad formats generally differ by word amount and how long they will stay live on the site. Many free ads will stay active for at least 30 days.
5. Write the advertisement and be sure to stay within the word limit allowed for free ads. Select the country, region and state where you would like to post the ad. If the site offers the option, upload pertinent photos from a flash drive or your computer's hard drive.
6. Review the finished online ad. Check for errors in spelling and punctuation. Make sure that the ad says everything you want it to say before you click "Submit." Wait about 15 minutes before you check to see if your ad has gone live on the site.
