Instructions
1. Contact Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, either online, by phone at 301-645-8712, or in person at their office in Waldorf, Maryland (see "Resources"). The department partners with local businesses to provide job placement and training services.
2. Contact employment agencies in Charles County. Kenney Staffing and Company can be reached by phone at 301-638-0606, or in person at their Waldorf office. Manpower, also in Waldorf, can be reached by calling 301-932-8444. (See "Resources" for addresses.) These agencies can connect you to currently hiring employers that are a good fit for you based on your skills. They can also provide tips to improve your resume and general job search help.
3. Look at the jobs listed in the "Employment Services" section of the Charles County Government website (see "Resources" for a link). The site lists all jobs currently available, both within the government departments and within Charles County in general. Also, call their job hotline at 301-645-0600 for updated job openings.
4. Attend the meetings of, or join, a Charles County networking group. Networking groups are a popular way to meet other people in a social setting, market your skills and talk about jobs available in the area. Some groups meet in person, like Koffee Talk, a networking group for sales and marketing professionals. Others meet online, like the Charles County, MD Young Professionals networking group, which does most of its communication through social networking platforms. 5. Check the local newspapers, where job listings can be found in the classified sections. Local southern Maryland newspapers include The Independent, The Recorder, Baltimore News, Baltimore Sun, Washington Post and Washington Times. Most of the cities in Charles County also have their own publications.
