Beautiful or unique papers help you create handmade baby shower invitations.
Baby showers are special occasions, and handmade invitations for a baby shower are memorable. Making invitations by hand for a baby shower can be very simple, whether or not you know the gender of the baby. Card-style invitations can be made easily by cutting a letter-sized piece of card stock in half horizontally. Decorative papers and embellishments will make the invitations you create a beautiful expression of joy. Remember to make an extra invitation for the mother-to-be to include in her baby book. Does this Spark an idea?
Diaper Invitation
Start with an 8.5-inch square piece of white paper. Center the invitation information at the top of the paper. Cut the bottom corners off of the invitation so that it resembles a diaper. Fold the sides and bottom of the invitation up so that the information is concealed inside the diaper. Make sure that it fits inside the envelope. Seal it closed with a ribbon that is pink, blue or yellow.
Baby Carriage
This simple invitation idea is easily personalized. For the carriage, cut a 2-inch circle out of a colored piece of paper. Cut out the top left quarter of the circle. Use pre-printed embellishments or wire to make the carriage wheels and handle. Decorate the edges of the carriage with glitter glue or beads. Use pop dots or another raised adhesive to attach the carriage to a 3.5-inch square of contrasting paper. Glue the square to an 8.5 by 5.5-inch piece of card stock that has been folded in half.
Teddy Bear
Create a teddy bear silhouette that fills most of a 4.25 by 5.5-inch rectangle. Draw the teddy bear's face, and fill out the invitation information on the bear's tummy. Decorate the invite with embellishments, beads or glitter glue. Three-dimensional embellishments can be used; make the invitation out of card stock so that it adequately supports the decorations without tearing. If the invitation is textured, address the envelope before placing the invitation inside.
Baby Rattle
This invitation can work well as a cut-out invitation or mounted to a 4.25 by 5.5-inch piece of card stock. Cut out a rattle from colored card stock. Include the invitation information on the "rattle" part, and decorate the handle with embellishments or a bow. If you mount the rattle to a contrasting piece of card stock, use pop dots or another dimensional adhesive.
Baby Bib
Create a template for a bib that fits a 4.25 by 5.5-inch piece of card stock. Punch holes in the top two corners of the bib, and tie colored ribbons through them to make the bib ties. Decorate the invitations with embellishments, and place them in envelopes to mail them.
