Colorado offers several dog training schools.
Dog training means more than sit, stay and rollover. It's quite possible that the things your dog learns in a basic obedience class can save his life later. All dogs need basic obedience training. If you live in Colorado, there are several options for you and your pooch.
The Canine College
The Canine College offers everything from basic obedience training to guard dog training. The Canine College is an in-home, training program that fixes problem behaviors, such as biting, barking, destruction and jumping on guests. Group classes are also available.
Using the pack mentality, The Canine College attempts to make the dog more aware of your presence as the leader of the pack. Once your dog associates you as the leader of his pack, he'll be more inclined to listen, even when he's distracted.

Wag & Train
Wag & Train starts its training at the puppy level, with classes that focus on basic obedience and potty training. The school recommends that you start your puppy's training at eight weeks, and that you continue throughout the lifetime of the animal.
Wag & Train offers a puppy class and level 1 and 2 obedience classes in a private or group setting.
The puppy class focuses on potty training, socialization and basic commands, like "come," as well as getting your canine to recognize his name. The obedience classes focus on behaviors, such as sit and stay, as well as basic dog manners, such as not jumping on guests and refraining from barking.
Beyond the training classes offered, Wag & Train also offers one-on-one, problem-solving classes for those problem behaviors that pooches display that just can't be corrected.

Blue Springs 'n Katydid Dog Training Center
The Blue Springs 'n Katydid Dog Training Center has classes for every skill level. The puppy classes start at eight weeks and focus on things like correcting mouthing problems, potty training, the "come" command, getting your dog to recognize his name and playing in a nondestructive way.
More advanced classes consist of sit-and-stay-type obedience classes and clicker training.
If your pooch has what it takes, he can progress into advanced-level classes that train dogs to dance, complete agility trials or, even, prepare for dog shows.
