Awesome Birthday Party Ideas

You can spend a great deal of money on a birthday party to make it memorable. Or you can think about what your child really loves the most, and plan your party around that. You might have to think unconventionally. If your child loves animals, why not hire a portable petting zoo? If your daughter loves swimming, plan your party at the beach or the community pool. What makes an awesome party is how meaningful it is to the birthday boy or girl. Does this Spark an idea?

Pony Party

What kid doesn't like a pony? You can even go one bigger, and rent a horse-drawn carriage. The whole theme of the party can be horses or ponies---pony pinata, pony rides, pony decorated cake, pony party bags. A carriage rental is an awesome venture, and can be expensive. But even you will feel like Cinderella if you indulge and take rides around your neighborhood. A petting zoo is also a great hire---you can find petting zoos in your area for rent online. They will bring bunnies, ducks, chickens, and a goat to your yard, set up a little fence and supervise the kids and animals together. The cost is usually more than a pony but less than a carriage rental.

Tea Party

Tea parties are easy and inexpensive to host at home. Have your tea table all set up when the guests arrive, with a fancy tablecloth, china cups and real silver at the place settings. Warm, homemade scones and cream should be set on each plate, as well as some fresh fruit like grapes, blueberries or oranges cut into slices. Tea, along with sugar and milk should be on the table. A silver serving tray stacked with a nice variety of simple finger sandwiches with the crusts cut off is a nice touch. It's great to have a dress up box in the room with fancy gowns, hats, boas and shoes (either from the attic or the thrift store) for the kids to dress in as they arrive---so they can be dressed up when they sit down for their fancy tea party.

Beach or Pool Party

Plan a pizza party at the beach. The ocean is a natural activity, so not much work goes into the party once you lug all the stuff out onto the sand. Bring Twister, extra sunblock, and brand new beach towels as party favors for the kids to take home. Even if the water's too cold for swimming, you can give prizes for the best sandcastle, or the most beautiful rock or seashell. Community pools are also a great place for a party during the summer---some of them even have an adjacent room you can decorate and use for your guests. Beach and pool parties are fun for really young kids, whose parents stay and and supervise their children, or for older children who are strong swimmers.
