Find A Lost Ipad Using Find My Ipad

Find a lost or stolen iPad with Find My iPad

With the introduction of iOS 4.2, iPad owners will be able to track down their lost or stolen iPad using the free Find My iPad feature. This feature uses the MobileMe service to locate a lost iPad by showing it on a map. It also allows iPad owners to display a message on the lost iPad's screen or to remotely wipe the iPad's memory.

Instructions

1. Touch the "Settings" icon from the iPad's app home screen.

2. Press "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" to open the Accounts screen.

3. Touch the "Add Account" button to create a new account and then press "MobileMe."

4. Fill in the forms using your Apple ID or MobileMe account information. Your Apple ID account is the same account used for the iTunes Store and the App Store. In the event that you do not have an Apple ID, select "Create Free Apple ID" and follow the instructions to set up a free account.

5. Click the "Verify Now" link in the email that was sent to the email address associated with your Apple ID or MobileMe account to verify your account.

6. Navigate back to the MobileMe account page and turn the switch next to "Find My iPad" to "On."

7. Navigate to the MobileMe website and sign in using your Apple ID or MobileMe login. From here, you will be able to see your iPad on a map indicating it's current location.

8. Click the arrow next to the iPad icon. This will bring up a menu of buttons that will allow you to send a message or sound to the iPad, lock the iPad or wipe the iPad.
