Noah'S Ark Party Ideas

A Noah's Ark party can be an exciting occasion for a Vacation Bible School closing program, Sunday School event, baby shower or birthday party. The ark and animal theme can be applied to the decorations, food and party activities. Noah's Ark is a popular theme for a twin baby shower and will work well for a twin siblings birthday party. It is an alternative that is chosen for a church activity for Halloween to replace trick-or-treating.

Decorations

Decorate your party area according to the budget and space available. Transform the room or space into a Noah's Ark setting. A major highlight of the party decor should be one large rainbow. This can be a three-dimensional piece or flat wall decoration. An animal pinata will be decorative and fun for the children. Construct an ark from a large refrigerator box for the children to play in with a variety of stuffed animals. Hang green crepe paper streamers with paper doves, the green symbolizing the olive branch the released dove brought back to the ark. Rain clouds, small stuffed animals or wild animal pictures can also be displayed everywhere. If you have a large area for the party, hay bales can be placed around for seating or strictly decoration. A bassinet or baby crib can be decorated with a foam board Noah's Ark panel that can be used for a decorative wall panel in the baby nursery.

Activities

You can create several games and activities for a Noah's Ark party. Turn the standard party games into a Noah's Ark adventure.

Set up a poster of an ark and encourage party-goers to play a pin Noah or an animal on the ark game.

Draw up a plan for a find the dove treasure hunt. Give players a map or a set of hints to direct them to the area where the dove is hidden. Party favor bags can be filled with gummy fruit animals, plastic boats and animals.

Place a collection of Noah's Ark and baby items on a tray. Cover the tray with a baby blanket and encourage baby shower guests to play a memory game. Pull the towel from the tray for 30 seconds. The guests must be able to remember and write down as many of the items as possible on a piece of paper. The person who lists the most items correctly wins the game.

Cake and food

Add special touches to your party foods with the Noah's Ark party theme in mind. Think of the food that Noah and his family would have needed to pack into the ark for all of the animals and people. Set out small bowls of sunflower seeds and mixed nuts. A melon basket filled with fruit segments is a colorful and tasty treat. You can cut the melon into the shape of the ark. Decorate a Noah's Ark cake and add cookie or marzipan animals to it. For a bit of whimsy, prepare cut up celery stalks with a peanut butter spread sprinkled with two raisins for ants on a log. Small pita pockets may be close to the types of bread that the family had to eat on the ark. Fill them with sandwich meat, cheese and veggies for a decorative platter of food.
