Get Food Donations

Various foods can be donated.

Food banks are located in various municipalities throughout North America. You can collaborate with the food bank to get donations, or you can set out on your own. Encouraging people at your school or work to get involved can go a long way to securing the maximum amount of donations possible. Collaboration with other individuals and businesses can really launch your food drive and maximize your success. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Throw a kick-off party and invite everyone you know. Ask them to bring friends, family and non-perishable food.

2. Let the people who will be attending know what the most desired food is. This could be in the form of a shopping list.

3. Continue the drive after the party and monitor how many pounds have been donated. Email everyone you can about goals and the amount raised. This will get people excited.

4. Set your campaign up with a theme, such as a Christmas food drive. This can be especially useful because people are in the giving spirit around Christmas. You can ask for turkeys and other items normally on the Christmas dinner menu. You will need to have a freezer large enough to accommodate many turkeys.

5. Lobby businesses to host donation boxes.Try to find a business that will match the number of pounds you raise in food. Some businesses could use this as a way to attract customers by telling them of their intention.
