Create Your Own Baby Game

You can also adapt a popular game to make your baby game.

The welcoming of a new baby is an exciting time not only for the new family, but for other family members and friends of the expecting family. Creating a game to play during the time of celebration can help everyone who wants to feel included in the introduction of the new baby into the world. A baby game can be adapted specifically for the family of the new baby to show them how invested their support system is in the arrival of their little one.

1. Consider what personal information you can include about the parent or parents and baby. Do you know the baby's gender? Does the baby have a name yet? Is there a theme for the baby's nursery? Any of these personal details will help to make a more personalized baby game that will mean a lot to the family of the new baby.

2. Use the information you have gathered about the baby and his family to make up questions, puzzles or even a scavenger hunt to not only celebrate the new family, but to reveal fun information about the new baby. If the expecting family agrees, a personalized baby game at a family dinner or baby shower could be a fun way to unveil the gender of the baby or the baby's name.

3. Decide on the rules of the baby game before it is time to play. Decide how many turns each player gets, who gets to participate, what the prizes will be for the winner and whether there will be a time limit to complete the game. If you are playing the game at a shower, it is important to consider how much time, in comparison to the time scheduled for the shower, you will be able to allow to play the game. However, if you are just playing the game at home with a few family members, you will likely be able to allot more time to play.

4. Gather any materials you may need to play the game. You may want to type the game on the computer and print out sheets for all the participants. If you do this, you'll also need pencils or pens for the players. Also, think about whether or not you'll need a timer, game pieces with pictures of the family, or any other supplies to complete the game.

5. Lay out all of the rules and instructions for the baby game prior to letting any of the participants begin the game. Make sure everyone understands what the goal of the game is before beginning. Let the mom and dad participate in the explanation of the game as much or as little as they would like. The game could also be a surprise for the family as well.
