Planning Your Trip
You don't want to take your pet on vacation only to leave it alone in an unfamiliar place for long periods of time. Consider vacation spots that will allow both you and your pet to enjoy relaxing, fun activities and spend quality time together. Some pet-appropriate vacation destinations include campgrounds, RV parks, lakeside cabin rentals, hiking trips and other animal-friendly outdoor venues.
Traveling with Your Pet

Also, ask for ground-floor rooms with close access to an exit and grounds for walking your pet.
Leaving Your Pet Alone on Vacation
Even if your vacation is chock-full of pet-friendly activities and outings, you may want to enjoy some "humans only" time to visit a fancy restaurant or tour places that aren't appropriate for your pet. In this instance, make sure you give your pet a good deal of exercise and attention just before you leave. Give it a favorite chew toy and an article of clothing that smells like you, and leave the television on for company. Crating your pet while you're gone is another option. Some pet-friendly destinations may also offer pet-sitting services.
Be a Courteous Pet Owner
Always clean up after your pet and observe leash laws. Don't allow your pet to disturb others with continuous loud barking or destructive behavior.
