After awhile your pets will become best friends
When new pets come into the family it can be a problem for the older pets that are already living in the household. If the right steps are not followed than one of the pets usually the new pet can get seriously injured. This can be costly and have a huge impact on how safe the new pet feels.

Introduce New Pets to Older Pets in the Home
1. Put the new pet in a different room for the first couple of nights. Make sure you keep spending time with him so that he is not alone. As he is secluded from the older pets they will be able to sense him and know that he is there. This will give them a chance to adjust and get used to the new scent.
2. Let the new pet out without the older pets being around. This will allow the newer pet to get a feel for the house and they will be able to pick up the scent of the older dogs. The new pet can also leave their scent around the house. This is important because all of these animals need to get a feel for each other and know that the other one is there.
3. Keep doing this process with the pets for a couple of weeks. This does seem like a long time but this is the safest way for the pets to be introduced to each other. It is slow but it will cut risk of anything bad happening and their curiosity is raised about who this other dog is.
4. Set up a meeting between the animals. Make sure that you do not force anything on them let them go at their own pace and make sure that you closely monitor them together. If you see any aggression then keep doing this until they are comfortable with each other.
5. Give both animals time to adjust even the older animals might be a little scared if the new pet is really rambunctious. There will be a lot of jealousy issues and a lot of dominating. They just need time to get used to each other and before you know it they will be best friends.
