Grants help offset the costs of emergency veterinary care.
Accidents happen, and so do health emergencies. This is not only true for humans, but for companion animal as well. Grants for emergency veterinary care help cover or offset the costs associated with unforeseen vet visits.
Identification
Grants for emergency veterinary care are monetary awards given to people whose pets need life-saving veterinary procedures.
Types
Private grants are available through individual organizations dedicated to helping animals, while institutional funded grants are available through the emergency care veterinary facility providing care for the animal.
Amounts
The amount of a grant varies from as little as $50 to the full cost of the procedure. The amount awarded depends upon the criteria for each individual grant as well as the amount of funds available from the granting organization or entity.
Considerations
Grants may have criteria pertaining to your individual financial status. You must be able to prove you are unable to afford emergency veterinary treatment for your pet in some cases. Other grants are offered for animals with certain conditions or suffering from certain emergencies. Still others are awarded based on where the animal is receiving treatment.
Warning
The Humane Society of the United States advises not to avoid seeking emergency veterinary care because you cannot afford it. Many care providers are able to work out billing plans, and some organizations may offer assistance locally.
