Get Donations For The Poor

Many people die every day as a result of poverty.

Poverty strikes a multitude of people around the world and is a leading cause of death. According to the Hearts and Minds End Poverty Campaign, poverty kills more than 50,000 people every day and 2.56 billion people around the world live on less than $2 a day. Learning the proper methods to get donations for the poor will help you provide aid to needy, low-income people.

Instructions

1. Check with your employer's human resources department to see if it offers a sponsored matching gift program. According to Food For The Poor, many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.

2. Create and distribute informational fliers detailing the plight of the poor. Distribute the informational fliers to your local businesses, religious organizations and neighbors and ask for donations for the poor.

3. Place an advertisement in your local newspaper asking for donations for the poor. Detail the exact type of donations you're willing to accept and add a legitimate email address or telephone number to the advertisement where people can easily reach you. You can choose to accept financial, food, clothing or household item donations for the poor.

4. Throw a garage/bake sale and invite your entire community to get involved. Inform your friends, family and community members about your desire to get donations for the poor and ask for their help in accomplishing that goal. Advertise your garage/bake sale and throw it in a high-traffic location for maximum results.

5. Create and operate a blog about poverty. You can ask for donations on the blog or raise money for the poor by placing ads on your blog or by writing sponsored posts. You can get ads placed on your blog by joining and creating an account with a reputable ad program, such as Google Adsense. You can get a free blog at Blogger or Wordpress.
