Kung Fu Schools In New Jersey

There are several kung fu schools in New Jersey.


Derived from the Chinese word for "hard work" or "perfection," kung fu is an ancient type of martial art. The state of New Jersey is home to several schools that offer kung fu training classes. Most of these schools welcome all ages and skill levels and teach various fighting techniques related to kung fu.

Master G’s School of Martial Arts and Physical Fitness offers instruction for both adults and children. The founder of the school, Grandmaster Barry Gray, has more than 30 years of martial arts training, according to the school's website. The school specializes in teaching the kung fu style called Chinese Kung Fu Wu Su Northern Shaolin. The program focuses on self-defense, body conditioning, breathing exercises, meditation, discipline, and weapon training.

China Hand Kung Fu Academy


Founded in 1983, the China Hand Kung Fu Academy offers traditional kung fu training for young adults and older. Students can choose to participate in a variety of different training programs including Shaolin kung fu, Tai Chi, Pa Kua Chuan, Hsing Yi Chuan, grappling and weaponry. The school offers group lessons and private one-on-one training sessions. New students are welcome to try the school with a free first class. China Hand Kung Fu Academy also has a virtual training program available online. According to the school’s website, individuals can learn the art of kung fu through instructor-led video tutorials via an online streaming video.

Southern Shaolin Academy


Southern Shaolin Academy offers a kung fu program for children and adults. Weekday and weekend classes are available. In the kids' program, students ages four and up learn the Wushu style of kung fu. According to the school’s website, this style is very acrobatic, physically demanding and requires high energy. Southern Shaolin Academy also offers beginner and advanced classes in Hung Gar kung fu for adults.

Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy


Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy offers weapon training classes and the Wing Chun style of kung fu classes for children and adults. Bau Shu Fang Lian School of Shaolin Kung Fu


Bau Shu Fan Lian School of Shaolin Kung Fu teaches the traditional style of kung fu to children and adults, from beginner to advanced levels. Students have the opportunity to compete in tournaments and competitions throughout the year. The school also offers a special adult class called Shaolin Bo.
