Troubleshoot The Sims Complete Collection

The Sims Complete Collection is a compilation of all of the original Sims games and expansions for the PC. The Sims allows players to create custom content, meshes, skins, houses and items and download them for use in their game. However, these custom items can also be the cause of issues in The Sims. If you have downloaded corrupted or incompatible files, the game may display bad textures, load slowly, crash upon opening neighborhoods or houses or simply not launch at all. Maxis developed a tool to help players scan their custom content and remove the files that could cause trouble with the game.

Instructions

1. Go to The Sims website to download and install the Sims File Cop program. You will be required to log in using your Sims account. You can also download the program from the Cnet Downloads website.

2. Launch the Sims File Cop after the program has been installed.

3. Click the "OK" button on the loading window.

4. Allow the Sims File Cop to scan your Sims content. This may take some time depending on how much content you have.

5. Review the results of the scan. The Sims File Cop will alert you to any issues and move the corrupted files out of your content folder. The program will store bad skin files in the "BadTextures" folder and other corrupted file types in the "BadOtherFiles" folder. These folders are located by default inside the "\Program Files\Maxis\ The Sims File Cop" folder.

6. Launch your Sims game with a content folder clean of incompatible files for improved performance.
