Find Pet Related Events In Your Area

Maybe your pet is tired of sitting home on weekends. Well, they don't have to -- there are pet-friendly events galore. And if you have a cat or rabbit that may not do well on an outing -- there are still events related to pets. Depending on where you live--most are within driving distance -- you just have to know where to look! Here are ways to find pet-related events in your area.

Instructions

1. Search the Internet. Start by keying in the name of your city (or closest city) followed by "pet events." If you live in Los Angeles, for instance, you would search "los angeles pet events." If you have a dog, you can specifically search "dog events." Another good way to search is "pet events calendar." Events include everything from pet fairs -- to animal charity events such as walks (or for the more athletically inclined) runs -- to contests -- to low-cost pet vaccination days at the dog park (although your pet may not consider it an "event.")

2. Check your local newspapers and magazines either in print or online. The calendar or events listings normally include the bigger pet events in your area (although they don't always include charity events).

3. Go to Meetup.com and enter "pet events" under "Topic or Interest" and then your zip code. It will pull up pet events up to 100 miles from your zip code (see Resources below).

4. Check free pet publications. Many cities have publications (usually monthly) that feature a comprehensive listing of pet-related events in your area. Los Angeles, for example, has "The Pet Press," which is invaluable for finding out about area-wide pet events.

5. Check event listings in national pet publications such as "American Dog Magazine" and "Dog Fancy" for events in your area or areas you might be visiting.

6. Look in pet supply stores; they normally have flyers or calendars listing the bigger pet events in your area. If you don't see any out, ask a clerk. They sometimes run out and forget to replenish.
